University Park Community Guide
Community Overview
University Park is a village of about 6,300 35 miles south of downtown Chicago. The village has a mix of commercial, residential and industrial development, including Governor's Gateway Industrial Park, a major local employer. Recreational opportunities include the programs of the Park & Recreation Department, Deer Creek golf course, Pine Lake and Riegel Farm. School-aged children attend unit district 201. Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-57, I-80, I-294/Tri-State Tollway, I-94/Calumet Expwy.), and major local roads (Western Ave., Cicero Ave.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Metra Electric Line (ME). Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 60 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE.
