Streamwood Community Guide
Community Overview
Streamwood is a village of about 31,000 33 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. It has been a community attractive to first time home-buyers and continues with that via its single-family mortgage revenue bond program (contact the village hall or George K. Baum & Co., 312-645-9497). Rental housing is also available. Streamwood hosts industrial development as well in its Industry and Business Center where such companies as Wickes Lumber are located. Recreational opportunites for residents include Park District programs and the Municipal Streamwood Oaks Golf Club. Elgin U-46 School District takes in elementary-and secondary students, who attend Streamwood High School. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-90-Kennedy Expwy.), and major local roads (I-59, U.S. 20, & Schaumburg Road). Commuter service to downtown is provided at the nearby Hanover Park train station by the Metra/Milwaukee West Line (MD-W). Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 50-60 minutes. Local bus service is available from PACE. The RTA Travel Info. Number is 1-800-972-7000.
