South Chicago Heights is a southeast suburb about 35 miles southeast of downtown Chicago. The village operates a Senior Citizens Center. Grade school-aged children attend Saukview Elementary, district 194; while secondary students go to Bloom Township High School, district 206. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-394/Calumet Expwy.), and major local roads (Torrence Ave., Lincoln Hwy.).
