Rolling Meadows is a village of about 22,500 30 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. While largely residential, about one-third of the village is reserved for industrial and commercial development. Retail shopping is located in one of over a dozen shopping centers within the village. The Park District maintains an active program, and families may enjoy the Exploratorium & Children's Museum/Tunnels of Fun, a "hands-on" play facility at 2843 Kirchoff Rd., 847-590-1800. Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-90, I-290) and major local roads (list which ones). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra, with trains leaving from or returning to the nearby Palatine (225 W.
