Plainfield Community Guide
Community Overview
Plainfield is a village of about 4,500 37 miles southwest of downtown Chicago. While largely rural in character, Plainfield has a variety of industrial, retail, and residential development. Recreational opportunities include the programs and facilities of the Park District. School-aged children attend Plainfield district 202 schools. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-55/Stevenson Expwy., I-80/Kingery Expwy., I-355/North-South Tollway, I-88/East-West Tollway) and major local roads (U.S. 59). Commuter service to downtown is provided by the Burlington Northern in Naperville and Aurora, and the Rock Island Line in Joliet. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 60 minutes.
