Mount Prospect is a village of about 53,200 22 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Residential development is ongoing, along with renovations to the downtown area. Recreational opportunities include the programs of the Park District. Most grade school-aged children attend district 57 schools, while the remainder are served by districts 21, 26, and 59. Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-90/Kennedy Expwy./Northwest Tollway, I-294/Tri-State Tollway), and major local roads (I-83/Elmhurst Road, I-58/Golf Rd., U.S. 14/Northwest Hwy., U.S. 12/Rand Rd.).
