Community Overview
Marengo is a village of about 5,200 about 10 miles west of Crystal Lake in McHenry County. Recreational opportunities include the programs and facilities of the McHenry County Conservation District (MCCD), including Coral Woods and Marengo Ridge, as well as park district recreation programs. Grade school-aged children attend Riley school, district 18, or Marengo/Union school district 156; while secondary students go to Marengo High School, district 154. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-90/Northwest Tollway), and major local roads (I-176, I-23). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra. The RTA Travel Info. Number is 1-800-972-7000.
