Libertyville is a village of about 20,000 35 miles north of downtown Chicago. The town, while largely residential, has industrial development, including Motorola's light electronic assembly plant. Green Oaks is a neighboring village within Libertyville Township. Recreational/Cultural opportunities include the programs of the Park District and David Adler Cultural Center. Most grade school-aged children attend district 70 schools, while those south of Golf Road attend district 73. Green Oaks residents attend Oak Grove school, district 68.
