Community Overview
Highwood is a village bordering Highland Park 28 miles north of downtown Chicago. Recreational opportunities include the programs of the Highland Park Park District. Elementary schoolchildren attend district 112 schools and go on to Highland Park High School in district 113. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-41-94/Edens Expwy., I-294/Tri-State Tollway),and major local roads (I-22, Sheridan Rd.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 40 minutes (express). Local bus service is available from PACE. The RTA Travel Info. Number is 1-800-972-7000.
