East/West Dundee Community Guide
Community Overview
West Dundee is a village of about 3,800 41 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. While primarily residential, the town began constructing a Planned Unit Development in 1991, which features office and retail development as well as single and multiple family dwellings. Several rental complexes are also located in West Dundee. East Dundee has a population of about 2,700. Unit District 300 serves children in both communities from Kindergarten through High School. (See below for details on schools).
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-90), and major local roads (Rte. 72, Rte. 31). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 90 minutes. Local bus service is available from a regional bus system, which links commuters to the train lines in Barrington, Cary, Crystal Lake and Elgin. The RTA Travel Info. Number is 1-800-972-7000.
