Arlington Heights Community Guide
Community Overview
Arlington Heights is a town of about 75,000 27 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. The city features a mix of industrial, commercial and residential areas, and has programs for all ages, including an active Park District and the Arlington Heights Youth Center, which offers day camp and performing arts & CPR classes. Grade school-aged children attend schools in districts 15, 21, 25, 26 or 59, depending on which section of town they live in, and most secondary students go to Wheeling or Hershey High Schools in district 214 (the remainder attend Rolling Meadows or Buffalo Grove High schools in the same district). *See below for details on schools.
Transportation needs are served by area highways (I-53, I-290-Eisenhower Expwy. and I-90-Northwest Tollway), and major local roads (U.S. 12-Rand Rd., U.S. 14-Northwest Hwy., and IL. 58-Golf Rd.). Commuter service to downtown is provided by Metra. Travel time to the downtown Chicago station is about 40 minutes (express). Local bus service is available from PACE. The RTA Travel Info. Number is 1-800-972-7000.
