The Appeal: What it's all about
The Dobermann Welfare Association have rescued seven Dobermann's in six months that are all totally deaf. Previously, this was a rare occurance, with only one deaf Dobermann rescued 16 years ago.
This problem is occuring more often, and the Vet' has advised that it may be deemed necessary to screen all Dobermann Puppies for deafness, just as Dalmations are screened for their hearing disabilities.
Our appeal is this: Do you own a deaf Dobermann? Do you know of
anyone else who owns a deaf Dobermann? The deafness may be complete
or partial.
We wont necessarily hear of a potential problem from the Kennel Club.
Those of us that know the Kennel Club well, will vouch for the fact
that they like to keep things quiet for a while, hoping that they
will go away!
This is not the attitude we expect from a leading Organisation, also, we do not want "fobbing off" with what they consider to be a *Trifling Condition that will right itself eventually!"
We hope that everyone with a Dobe that is affected, wherever they may live in the world, will come forward to let us know of their Dobe's ailment, so that perhaps we can narrow down the blood line responsible. The **people** who are breeding from these lines need to be stopped "NOW", before most of our beloved Dobes are affected by this condition.
Can you help with any information? If you can, please e-mail me in strict confidence. Together we may be able to stamp out this potential disaster before it is too late!
We must wipe out this condition before it becomes more widespread. Please, please help us!
