Crockett to Cartmill Deed

This day Polly Crockett, the wife of Robert Crockett, came personally before me, Thomas G. Sudduth, Deputy Clerk of the Court of the County aforesaid, in my office and having heard the deed hereto annexed from her and her husband to William Cartmill, read & explained & being by me examined of and concerning her claim of Dower, therein which deed is refered to by its boundaries as follows: Beginning at two beech trees, thence N 70 W 141 poles to a beech in Willis Green's line, 119 poles to an elm & black oak, thence S 70 East 134 poles to a sugar tree and elm in a small drain, thence N 121 poles to the Beginning, containing ninety two acres & 8 poles. Privily and apart from her husband, declared she freely and voluntarily relinquished her right of dower & all claim or title thereto, without the threats or persuasions of her said husband. In testimony whereof I have hereto set hand and seal as Deputy Clerk aforesaid this 6th day November 1824.
