Cartmill to Hazelrigg
This indenture made this 18th day of February 1845 by & between William H. Cartmill and Lucy, his wife, of the one part and Thomas Hazelrigg of the other part. Witnesseth that the said party of the first part have found in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to them paid, granted, bargained and sold and do by these presents, grant, bargain, sell & convey unto the party of the second part, three undivided tenths of a tract of land lying in the County of Bath on the waters of Slate Creek, one one hundred and fifty acres more or less, it being the tract of land formerly owned by David Cartmill & on which his widow no lives. The said William Cartmill being one of the heirs of said David Cartmill & he having bought out the interest of Thomas Cartmill & James Payne & his wife. To have and to hold to said Hazelrigg, his heirs & assigns forever free from the claim of the party of the first part & all others they will hereby warrant and defend by these presents as to their undivided tenths of the tract of land before described. In witness of which the said parties of the first part have hereto set their hands and seals the date aforesaid.
