Cartmill to Cartmill Mortgage
This indenture recorded and entered into this 12th day of August 1842 by and between John Cartmill of the County of Bath and Ann Cartmill of the County of Morgan and both of the State of Kentucky. Witnesseth that the said John Cartmill has this day for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, thus granted and sold to the said Ann Cartmill the following described tract or parcel of land and property. To wit: The one tenth part of a tract of land lying in Bath County and on the waters of Slate Creek, it being his undivided interest in and to the farm on which his father, David Cartmill died. Also about 14 acres of growing crop of corn, now growing on said farm, also one cow, one calf with a white face to have and to hold the aforesaid tract or parcel of land and other property free from the claims of him the said John Cartmill, his heirs & assigns and all and every persons by, through or under him, yet subject to the following reservations. To Wit: Whereunto the above bound John Cartmill stands in debt to the said Ann Cartmill in the sum of $100 due 1st day of September 1847. Now if the said John shall well and truly pay and discharges the above debt together with all costs and damages that may occur, then the title to the above property and land to revert to the said John in as full and ample a manner as is their deed had never been. Given under my hand and seal the day and date aforesaid.

I James Sudduth Deputy for William M. Sudduth Clerk of the County Court for the County aforesaid do hereby certify that deed from John Cartmill to Ann Cartmill was this day acknowledged by the said John Cartmill to be his act and deed. Whereupon the same hath been duly admitted & to record in my office as the Law directs. Given under my hand as Deputy aforesaid this 21st of August 1842
