Retired locomotive engineer, Pittsburg, died Dec 4, at age 80. Heentered service in April, 1900 as laborer in the mechanical department atPittsburg. He transferred to locomotive fireman in September, 1901, andwas promoted to engineer in July, 1906. Re retired on April 29, 1943.
I'm told by my father, John Michael Gallagher, that his grandfather onhis mother's side, his mother being Minnie Edwards; that her Father was aCivil War veteran and he had lost one eye in the war. I'm told he waswell over over 6 ft tall and I noticed he had long beard in the lastpicture I had seen. That picture was on a tin and it has sincedisappeared since my mother's death in 1979.
Margaret came to Kansas in a covered wagon as a child with her parentsfrom Owingsville Kentucky, Bath County. That is what I was told. Herrecords show her parents and siblings came from KY., however she was bornin Selma Kansas.
