"Cricket!"
February 1990 to October 13th, 2001
Cricket crossed over to 'Rainbow Bridge on October 13th, 2001'

I'm the purrrrrrrfect grey striped tabby. I'm purrrrrrfect because I'm the oldest, best, all around family cat in the world! Or should I say in this house.

"Sweet Dreams".

"Taken a break from chasing all
the barn mice on the farm".

HERE'S A LITTLE ABOUT MOI,(the purrrrrfect cat).
I was in the pound with 4 of my brothers and sisters waiting to be adopted or, well, you know, put to sleep. There was only one day left for us before, well you know. I had one brother that was deformed and I knew no human family would adopt him. We were all only 6 weeks old. My human mother's daughter, Julie, picked me. I was so lucky. Julie worked at a fast food place and when she took me home I got to go to work with her. I got to eat tons of roast beef until my sides were as wide as I was long. Julie's human mom was upset with her that she fed me too much. It tasted great. I was an indoor cat until I got old enough to go outside. I like it outside in the summer. I have full run of the farm. I catch mice. I catch birds. That makes my human dad upset. I think he likes birds or something. I always bring my catches up on the porch to show everyone what a great hunter I am. I love to roll in the dirt until my black tabby coat is all dusty. It feels soooo...... good. I'm everyone's friend. I love to be petted, talked to, fed scraps, and most of all, I love to rub and rub against Casey & Tazz my families Shitzu dogs. I always ask politely for food. I'm a very polite cat. My human mom & dad think I'm the best all around cat. I'm nice all the time. I'm quiet and a total gentleman. I like Puss, Cindy, Buttercup, and even Susan except Susan doesn't like anyone. I'll be 10 years old this year. My, My. I've lived with this great family for 10 years. All the human Bangerter's are great and love me.
Thanks for coming.
Hugs,
Cricket

OCTOBER 13TH, 2001
SATURDAY
Our beloved tabby kitty, Cricket, has been so very sick for the past week and a half. We took him to Dr. Pam Epperson a week ago last Monday as he came home after a two day disappearance. He could hardly walk up the back stairs. Dr. Pam kept Cricket at her clinic, Animal Care Center, in ICU for two days and did a $200.00 lab work up on his blood. His kidneys, she thought, were infected. He was completely dehydrated and she figured he hadn't eaten in two weeks. I was so sad and felt so responsible because he is an outside kitty. I felt like I hadn't keep in touch with his health. We made sure he had food and water but now that I look back on it I bet the neighbors cats were eating his food. Dr. Pam sent cricket home with 10 days of an antibiotic called, Amoxicillin. Some people may judge that the cost of helping Cricket was out of line at $ 327.00, but it is our stewardhips to take care of the animals we invited into our homes and lives. It was my responsiblity to care for Cricket and that's what I had to do. He just never got better. The first two days home he seemed to improve some and then it was all down hill. Horrible diahrea and throwing up and not eating. Today Ken and I decided we'd better call the vet. I guess certain things are meant to happen. Dr. Pam was not in her office but Dr. Richard White was at his clinic. Dr. White, our long time friend and veterinarian, even back when he was doing horses in 1968, was who Cricket was suppose to see. Why I didn't take him there in the beginning is beyond me. Dr. White did another blood work up on Cricket and found that he had complete kidney failure. Ken called from the clinic to have Dr. White talk to me. He only gave Cricket a 10 to 20 percent chance of living even if they could get an IV in and flush out his kidneys. He said that Cricket was now surviving only on his own tissue. He mentioned that he was so sorry we had spent so much money, but you know what, I'd do it again in a heart beat in the hope of Cricket getting better. He also had talked to Ken about Dr. Pam not putting IV's in Cricket and flushing out his kidneys. She only put fluid under the skin. I knew it was time for Cricket to be put to sleep. The decision was made and Cricket went home to Heavenly Father in Ken's arms. We paid for a private cremation. Cricket's remains will be in a beautiful cedar box until resurrection day. When Ken got home from Dr. Whites, we held each other and cried tears together. Julie got Cricket as a kitten from the Salt Lake Animal Shelter when she was 15 years old. Julie turned 27 years old this year. Cricket was 12 years old. He was the most loving dear cat we had ever had live at our home. He gave us years of joy and sweetness. We will sorely miss him. The Animal Care Center called on October 17th, 2001 asking how Cricket was. I had to tell them that Cricket had been cremated. On October 19th, 2001 a bouquet of flowers arrived. The card attached was from The Animal Care Center and Dr. Pam Epperson and Dr. Amy at the loss of Cricket. Flowers for Cricket. Actually it was a wonderful jester on their part. Cricket deserved flowers. Cricket is now home once again. Ken mentioned that maybe Cricket went away to die and then thought maybe it wasn't fair to us that we would worry about him so he came home. We have another special member of our family, Dawny, that was cremated a few years back. Dawny and Cricket will be in our home and hearts forever.

but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you..
I loved you so---
'twas Heaven here with you."
