Hedgies in Love

Armed with a coat of sharp quills, the ability to curl into a tight prickly ball, lightning-fast reflexes, and a fearless, almost pompous attitude, why would anyone want a hedgehog for a pet?

The special bond formed between a human and a pet is like no other. Often, the personality and voice we give our animal friends is an extension of our own personality. There is no question that "hedgehog people" are different from other pet owners: hedgehogs are like no other pet you have ever had, or will ever have. Dogs offer companionship, loyalty, and protection. Cats are the pet of choice for busy people: they practically take care of themselves. However, if you ask a hedgehog owner what a pet hedgehog is 'good for', you will never get a simple answer. In fact, if you have to ask, chances are that you will never fully understand. Getting to know a hedgehog is like uncovering a buried treasure: what you see on the outside reveals nothing about what's on the inside, but you know it could possibly turn your world upside down (if you're lucky). Masked by those quills is an abundance of love, affection, silliness, and loyalty with a little ATTIUDE mixed in for good measure. Adopting a pet hedgehog will completely change your life in ways you never imagined. No two hedgehogs are the same, but there is one thing that all hedgie owners have in common: a SENSE of HUMOR!!

The following few pages are a collection of examples of just how intertwined the human/hedgie relationship can become. You will be amazed at the lengths that we, as dutiful Slaves, will go to in order to keep our Quilly Balls happy.
