PAVILIONS
On June 22nd, 1996 the first Trans Canada Trail Pavilion was officially opened in the village of Caledon East, just north of Toronto, Ontario. Each pavilion contains 27 coriam panels on which the names and messages of donors and supporters are proudly displayed. Each Pavilion will contain approximately 12,000 names. These names are laser-etched into the panels, where they will remain forever.
On April 22nd, 1997, the second Pavilion was officially opened in Calgary, Alberta. A third Pavilion opened on August 4th, 1997, in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
The Trans Canada Trail Foundation salutes its architect, W.G. Milne of Calgary, Alberta, who provided the design and construction parametres of the Trans Canada Trail Pavilion and the Trans Canada Trail Foundation Inter-Provincial Gateways. These pavilions will be constructed at various intervals along the route of the Trail. They will forever enshrine the names and messages of donors and supporters and stand as testimony to the generosity and passion of Canadians from coast to coast to coast.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about the Trans Canada Trail, I am hoping to update this site on a monthly basis, so be sure to come back and visit.
