THE TRAIL STATUS
Since its launch in June of 1994, the Foundation has raised well over $4,000,000. Approximately 65% of the donations to date are traceable to individual Canadians with 30% attributable to corporations and 5% to Governments. The average individual donation is just under $72.00.
Are donor names recorded?
All donor names are recorded in a data base. In addition, many donors purchase metres in the name of someone else (a recipient). The names of recipients are also kept in the data base. The Foundation currently has over 100,000 names in its data bank and the number is still growing.
Has any Trail been built?
Over 4,000 kilometres of Trail have been dedicated to the Trans Canada Trail to date. Some of these trails include:
*Galloping Goose Trail (Victoria, BC)
*Douglas Provincial Park (Saskatchewan)
*Duck Mountain Provincial Park (Saskatchewan)
*Caledon Trailway (Ontario)
*Jackson Creek Kiwanis Trail (Ontario)
*Elora Cataract Trailway in Ontario
*Grand River Trails in Ontario
*Guysborough Trail (Nova Socita)
*Irving Trail (New Brunswick)
*Confederation Trail (PEI)
The Foundation expects to open over 3,000 kilometres of Trail during 1998, bringing the total to over 5,000 kilometres. A minimum of three Trail Pavilions will also be added - one in Vancouver area, one in Ottawa and one in Hull. The first interprovincial Gateway between Quebec and New Brunswick was opened in June 1997, the second between Quebec and Ontario opened in June 1998.
