ROYAL ST. JOHN'S REGATTA

North America's oldest continuing sporting event has been around since the 1820's. The regatta features a day long series of fixed seat rowing races and a huge garden party near downtown St. John's. This is a celebration to toast the province's 50th anniversary of Confederation. The Festival of Arts which is a series of artistic events taking place from May to September 1999 will be a part of Soiree '99. Glacial landscape, Torngat Mountains, in Northern Labrador contains some of the finest examples of alpine glacial landforms in Canada.

Main Topsail hill, in Central Newfoundland called "tolls" in Newfoundland. These solitary rock knobs are the remnants of a former higher landscape which has all but since disappeared due to erosion.

A fjord valley at Ten Mile Pond, Gros Morne National Park. Glaciers carved this deep valley through the Long Range Mountains in Western Newfoundland.

Emerged sea stack and wave-cut platform in Western Newfoundland. Wave action from about 13,000 years ago produced this sea stack and rock platform.
