Annie Pearl King family geneology -- King-Niblock
Annie Pearl was born at Hamiota, Manitoba, on July 4, 1899, to Thomas Edward King and Annie Henrietta Niblock. In the early 1900's, the family lived in Balcarres, Saskatchewan, before moving to Regina. Annie Pearl attended St. Rosary school for girls. She earned a conditional teaching certificate fron the Regina Normal School in November 1917.
Annie Pearl's first teaching position was at South Lake School at Tuxford, north of Moose Jaw. Her contract began March 1, 1918, and was to conclude December 31, 1918. She then had a contract to teach at Woolford School at Leney, near Perdue. That contract was to begin Monday, August 12, 1918, and conclude December 31, 1918.
Annie Pearl alledged to have married William Henry Pelham in Saskatoon on August 10, 1918, by a minister by the name of Arnold Lewis. No record of this marriage was found from vital statistics in Regina, however, there was a courthouse fire in the 1950's that destroyed many provincial vital statistics records.
Annie Pearl's last teaching contract was to teach at Cranich Lake school at Carmel, beginning October 1918. However, two weeks later school was closed because of the flu epidemic of 1918.
During WWI her brother, Herb, enlisted in the Regina 195th Batallion.
This unit merged with the 102nd of British Columbia. Herb was a musician
and served in France. The bandleader of Herb's unit (George, an immigrant
from Scotland) and Annie Pearl began a correspondence. Upon his release
from service in July 1919, he visited Annie Pearl in Regina on his way
home to British Columbia. Annie Pearl followed by train to marry in August
1919. The couple had one son born in 1922. After being widowed in 1960,
Annie Pearl remarried. She passed away in June 1974 in Victoria, British
Columbia.
