Meet The

HUCK FAMILY

We come from a "LONG LINE of LOVE". Mother and Daddy, Gertrude Drury and Joseph Huck, rest their souls, were blest with twelve children.
Standing: Aelred, Joe, Dot, Duke, Augusta, Deet, Ubran and Quintin. Seated: Agnes, Darlene, Daddy, Mother, Marlene, and Adelee.

All of our brothers and sisters are married and have children of their own. They gave Mother and Daddy the joy of fifty-two grandchildren and many more great grandchildren. We added to their joy by becoming NUNS.
If this old house could talk, it would reveal more TREASURED MEMORIES than the NUNS' MEMORY CHEST could hold! We were born and raised in Ste. Genevieve Co. in the small town of Bloomsdale, MO. Growing up in the country was great fun. Our religious up-bringing greatly influenced our lives. In school we were taught by the Precious Blood Sisters from O'Fallon, MO. These nuns were truly an inspiration to both of us.
In our humble home, Mother was very ingenious. She had many God-given talents. As a seamstress she made many of our clothes. Every quilt on our beds was a labor of love. The term Ho-made really came alive in every way. Mother's way of providing involved canning produce in harvest time. After school, coming home to fresh-baked bread and ho-made jelly was another treat. (No such thing as bread machines back then.) Of course, a Treasured Memory was that of ho-made noodles. Mother also knew how to satisfy our sweet tooth with all her baked goods. She was a homemaker to the core.

Daddy was in no way left out when it came to talents. Besides being the main Bread Winner, he also knew how to employ the help of all of us in his big strawberry patches and vegetable gardens. Daddy wasn't all work, though. His way of incorporating leisure involved hunting and fishing and basket making. Musically, he was very naturally gifted. He loved to play the big bass fiddle, guitar and fiddle. Our home echoed with a lot of joy, especially, since some of us children also inherited his musical talent.

In this family picture there are four precious members missing. Joe, Urban, Adelee and Aelred are with us in spirit as they now enjoy their Heavenly Home.
