Hi, Just a note to say thank you for sharing your family with all. I throughly enjoyed the tour and reading everything. Another superstition from the mountainfolk is if you spill salt throw some of it over left shoulder or you will have bad luck. Also, if a black cat crosses your path, turn left and go to next corner then proceed with caution(watch for the cat). A whistling girl and a crowing hen never come to no good end.... Mountain folk also use to boil their potatoes and keep the water and use it in their gravy instead of milk. healthier and no waste. Don't ever look a dog straight in the eyes. If you get stung by a wasp, bee, hornet, yellowjacket, etc. put a wad of chewed chewing tobacco on the spot and keep it there till pain and swelling ar gone. If a dog has worms, make him swallow a penny. Worms will disappear. Nothin's cheaper than soap and water. If you get up in the morning and get your bed made and your dishes done, your house is half clean(that works too, my grandma use to say th t) Well, enough chatter for now. I was really impressed by your web site.it's so nice to find clean entertainment for a change.i-for one am sick of the smut thats on t.v and online.I'm originally from Arkansas and we use to sit out on the porch about duskand listen to their stories ,especially the ghost stories,and before the story was over -you found yourself sitting so close to them that they couldn't hardly breathe.we also had some superstitions and got into rea trouble if you were the smart alec and opened an umbrella in the house.you were looking for bad luck for a year.another one was "don't speak ill of the dead or they'll visit you the next night in your sleep.I think our "cure all"was sassafrass tea,I adm t it was good stuff but I don't think it cured everything.any way my opinion is to keep your web site just as it is---it's wonderful.I will surely be back again and visit with you.how about some old fashion recipes to go with it?that would be very nice.I' e chattered away long enough so I'll catch you later.bye for this time louise.
