CHRISTMAS SONG
        Elizabeth-Ellen Long

Of all the animals on earch
        I think the luckiest
Are the ox and ass who had
        Young Jesus for their guest,
The ox and ass in Bethlehem
        Whose privilege and joy
It was to share their stable with
        A little homeless Boy.
        The luckiest of animals
On earth, both tame and wild,
For they were first to look with love
        Upon the Christmas Child!

        FIRES
        Agnes Louise Dean

The ottoman beside the fire is where I sit and think
The heat makes me drowsy, the flames make me blink.
I think about the blazing logs which once were stately trees
With all their leaves a-dancing, dancing in the breze,
Green in the Summertime, scarlet in the Fall
With starts and snow at Christmas-Tide, most beautiful of all.
