| Thanks for the very
thought provoking questions! I am NOT a clergy, so my answer constitutes
my opinions based upon the facts (as I understand them) in the Holy Bible.
Also, I do not belong to any religious persuasion, per se . However,
I am a Christian (without denomination), dedicated to the living and spiritual
growth prescribed and taught by Jesus Christ. While I find your questions
invigorating and challenging to my faith - I DO suggest that you present
them to your clergy, and to God through prayer. If I don't cover
all the bases to answer you fully, don't give up...there are appropriate
answers...keep searching! I guess what I am trying to say is...if
I am wrong - don't interpret my errors as if it is written in cement....if
I am right - give God the glory for the peace you may find.
.... 1. Miracle-Healings ... Dictionary: MIRACLE - an extraordinary occurrence that surpasses all known human powers or natural forces. ... Holy Bible: The biblical concept of healing means more than relief from a set of physical symptoms. It means WHOLENESS of body and spirit. The words - healthy, whole and holy are all rooted in the same Old English word. .... Jesus asked the man in John 5:6, "Wilt thou be made whole?" (KJV) Many sicknesses are the result of the individual's attitude or lifestyle. Now, I don't want to get into allot of psychological stuff, but we do need to recognize that right from the beginning. You know the power of suggestion (influence) we get from our external surroundings. How much more powerful is the influence of our own inner dialogue that is reflected through our attitudes? This Internet is filled with sites dedicated to defining and demonstrating the problems or successes of attitude with negative or positive thinking. Probably we first need to ask if our attitude is positive enough to accept a positive miracle, or if the corruption of negative thinking is going to block anything positively presented to us. ... Medical scientists maintain that much of our sickness has emotional causes: tensions, fear, sorrow, envy, resentment, hatred, and the like. Physical pains and problems may be real enough, but their causes are rooted in the emotions, too. Lifestyle choices such as smoking, drinking, and overeating cause much illness. The lifelong smoker may develop problems such as emphysema, cancer, or high blood pressure. Alcohol consumption can have devastating consequences, both emotional and physical. Many of these are IRREVERSIBLE because of an ulcerated digestive tract, a destroyed liver, or a damaged brain. Overeating or eating disorders will also cause bad health...sometimes death. ... However, many illnesses are not the result of abuses, dissipation, or emotional problems. Many people are just ill! Jesus, referring to the man born blind, said, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him" (John 9:3). Among these purely organic diseases are such things as birth defects or genetic illnesses, injuries, and viral or bacterial infections. Sadly, many people suffer physically from the bad choices of others, such as victims of violence or of environmental hazards such as chemical waste or second-hand smoke. ... GOD OFFERS HEALING IN AT LEAST 3 WAYS: ... GOD HEALS THROUGH THE NEW BIRTH When a person becomes a "new creation" in Christ (2 Cor 5:17), he or she finds that Jesus can meet every need. Many testify that when they made things right spiritually, and began to live in proper perspective and relationship with God, their illnesses were taken away. The hymn writer William B. Bradbury refers to this new perspective: "Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind; Sight, riches, healing of the mind, Yea, all I need, in Thee I find...." Illnesses that result from the anxiety or depression caused by true guilt can be alleviated when true repentance and forgiveness occurs. ... GOD HEALS THROUGH THE CONFESSION OF SIN Many Christians live miserable, weakened, and often sickly lives because of disobedience and unconfessed sin. Such people can become completely well if they will deal with the sin (separation from God). The psalmist spoke of God as the one "who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases (dis-ease), who redeems your life from destruction, who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies" (Psalm 103:3-4). As with the healing that can follow initial conversion to Christ, this healing relates to illnesses caused by mental or emotional dysfunction. ... GOD HEALS MIRACULOUSLY IN KEEPING WITH HIS SOVEREIGN WILL The Bible contains many examples of God actually healing people of organic diseases--those with no psychosomatic causes. There is present-day evidence of this as well. However, God does not heal all who call on Him or who are prayed for by others. "God shows no partiality" (Acts 10:34), but He heals some and not others with a divine selectivity which reflects His own eternal wisdom and will. His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8). Sometimes God provides grace and strength in sickly situations. The glorious will and ways of God came into focus in Paul's life when he learned that "when I am weak, then I am strong" (2 Cor 12:10). ... None of this, however should discourage or hinder us from praying in faith for healing. God may answer our prayer of faith in ways that will amaze us. "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thes 5:17) is His command. My personal experience in healing, holds that great key of PRAYING IN FAITH. At the same time, a willingness to accept His Will in any situation, and to completely surrender to it....not only through words, prayers, thoughts..but, also in spirit. Which leads me to the 2nd question in your question.... ... 2. GAME PIECES I would be SO HONORED to be a "game piece" for God!! When I completely surrendered myself to Him, I.... in fact, requested that. It matters not to me if I am a Pawn, Bishop, Knight...He is my KING. It matters not if I am the Dog, the Shoe, the Hat....He is the BANKER and monopolizes me. I PRAY that He uses me to His glory!! Because, you see, I would rather be His active game piece, than to be stagnant water that is only ruffled at the whim of wind currents or disturbed by an occasional pebble thrown into me. Is everything peachy perfect? NO! Is it alright to be angry with God? Well, sometimes its human nature. He understands that, as long as we turn the anger into positive changes that reflect His glory. Is it alright to be disillusioned with God? I suppose so...but disillusionment is purely on the basis of our own expectations...not His....so its kind of silly to hold on to that and would probably block any healing we are praying for. Why is it, that we expect so MUCH of Him, while we give so little? *GO TO PAGE TWO................................Click>>>>>>>>> .........
