The Art of Henna Body Painting

Mehndi, or Henna is a dye created from the leaves of the Henna Plant. It has been used for thousands of years to color hair and to create temporary body tatoos from North Africa through the Middle East and India. Check out these links to see some beautiful designs and learn more about the history of Mehndi.

My Trials and Tribulations with Henna: I've recently begun experamenting with Henna tatooing, with mixed results. The type of Henna I used initially did not go darker than a light orange on my skin, and lasted hardly more than a week. Other people of fair skin have had similar results, and in the future, I plan to try a black henna, instead of the red I had been using, and to use some of the techniques described in the linked pages below to intensify the color. (Where I'm going to get U.A.E. limes, I have no idea.)
