BUFFY THE VAMIRE SLAYER

"Do you watch Buffy?" There's a certain thrill of watching a 17 year old pummel bad guys until they're dust, not to mention the snap snap writing. Evidently, I'm not alone. Among many demographics who proport themselvs to be Slayeret / tes, are the 14-18's, the 18-25's and the 35-45 Male Lawyers.

Go figure.

Stay tuned for the Buffy Quiz...

One of my earliest memories involves fighting with Vicki, a neighborhood girl, on the issue of who would get to be Electra Woman, and who would have to be Dyna Girl. She had the straight hair, and I was older by some 4 months, so I thought the roles were perfectly clear. Evidently she thought otherwise, so we both ran around the neighborhood with beach towel capes tied around our necks, singing the theme, each pretending to be Electra Woman. We're not even gonna touch the psychoanalytic possibilities here.

AEON FLUX

If you're into the Po-Mo action aesthetic, check out Aeon Flux:

The animation series Aeon Flux ran a few years back on M-TV. The first season consisted of 8 or so shorts, which I think are infinately cooler than the longer episodes of the second and third season. In the earlier episodes, Aeon has a rougher, crueler look, and there is no dialogue. She dies at the end of most episodes, only to live again and fight Trevor in the next episode. There are two video tapes available which have most of the episodes. The first one has all the first season shorts interspersed with longer second season episodes. My faves are Tide and Utopia / Dystopia.
