The First

- In 1882 the first horse owned by Nicholas Crant was brought here by schooner from St. Pierre.

- The first teacher was Juia Smith from Harbour Breton in 1885

- The first sizeable sawmill in the area was begun at Milltown in 1895

- The first chapel and grave site was on Birchy Point.

- The first established business was on the beach ( near Town Hall ) and was owned by and operated by Mr. Chambers from Pushthrough.

- Father St. Croix came in 1911. The first sawmill he built was at long point where ( Bob Snook and Ray Snook live. )

- Father Nolan brought the first motor boat in 1911.

- On July 30, 1937 the first plane landed. The pilot was Doug Fraser with Imperial Air Ways of St. John's.

- In 1949 the first public wharf was built

- On Sunday April 23, 1950 Father Gerald Hull had hi first Mass.

- In the summer of 1954 Conne River got its first telephone and Post Office and its first telephone operator and Past Master which was Noel Jeddore.

- In 1957 the town had its firdt garbage collection.

- On May 3, 1958 the first weekly mail service started.
