MY PARENTS PAGE
My father Frank Edward Keddy was born on January 11, 1911 in Martin's River, Nova Scotia. He was a strong, hard working, patient and quiet man who enjoyed a bottle or two of beer. He often talked about his life in Martin's River as a child. During WWII he built barracks in Sleepy Cove, on the outskirts of Halifax. After the war, mom and dad moved to Toronto where he continued his carpentry skills, until he retired in 1965. They lived in Toronto for over 25 years.
My mother Mary Ellen (McLean) Keddy was born on September 10, 1914 in Sydney Mines, Cape Breton. She was a petite (4'10") kind woman who spent many hours reading, writing friends and family and watching television. She graduated from the Halifax Stenography College in 1937, and worked as a bookkeeper for the Coal-o-matic Heating Company for five years, and then for the Canadian Nation Telegraph for three years. She was then employed by Stein Brothers Ltd. in Halifax for another 4 years.
In 1961 they bought a cottage north of Toronto, near Jackson's Point, on Lake Simcoe and moved there in 1969. In 1982, they moved back to Halifax.
Mom and dad both loved animals especially their dog "Nicky" which they had for over 15 years.
My mom died on June 24th, 1991 of coronary heart disease - she was 76 years old, and my dad died on February 27, 1999 - he was 88 years old. They are both buried in Camp Hill Cemetery in Halifax.
I miss them both very much!
