Whippoorwill
Moonstone ROM Rush is a handsome red and white boy who is a wonderful combination of flawless movement, correct structure, and all the details that define Whippet breed type. He has impressive, well balanced side gait; perfect soundness coming and going; plenty of body and front fill; a beautifully angled "sweepy" rear; and that gorgeous soft Whippet expression we all love so much. He began his show career by going Best of Winners at the prestigious AWC Western Specialty at 7 months of age. The following spring, he went Winners Dog at the AWC National Specialty over an entry of 128 class dogs; he also won his futurity class. He finished his championship in spectacular style by going Best of Winners at the Western Washington Whippet Specialty, his third specialty major. To our knowledge, he is the first Whippet in the history of the breed to complete his championship with three specialty five-point majors. Not one to rest on his laurels, he followed that up by going Best of Breed at the Greater San Diego Whippet Association Specialty in November, an incredible accomplishent for such a young dog, made even more exciting by the number of top ranking Whippets he defeated. He turned two years old in December of 1998. His first puppies are just hitting the show ring now, and are already racking up specialty Best in Sweeps, Breeds and Group Placements. Several are finished with others closing in on their titles, and one puppy from his first litter, Ch. Chelsea Dangerous Beauty, recently went Best in Futurity at the AWC National Specialty. Rush is a rare combination - not only a sound, beautiful Whippet and a great show dog, but a promising young sire as well.
