PROPHECIES OF THE MESSIAH FULFILLED

Surely the L-RD G-D will do nothing but He Reveals His Secret unto His servants the Prophets. The Lion [1] has Roared, who will not Fear? the L-RD G-D has Spoken, who can but Prophesy? Amos 3:7,8

The Prophecies of Messiah are all throughout the TeNaK (Tenach, Jewish Scriptures, Old Testament). The Prophet Isaiahs' writings have been dated to approximately 600 B.C. Manuscripts found among the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran were Carbon-14 dated at 250 B.C. A complete scroll of Isaiah was found there in the caves. Let us take a closer look at them and see what they say.

WHO COULD THIS PERSON BE?

"Behold My Servant shall deal prudently, He shall be Exalted and Extolled, and be very High.

As many were astonished at Thee; His visage was so marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men.

So shall He sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at Him: for [that] which had not been told them shall they see; and [that] which they had not heard shall they consider.

Who has Believed our Report? and to whom is the Arm of the L-RD Revealed?

For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a Root out of a dry ground: He has no form or comeliness; and we shall see Him, [there is] no beauty that we should desire Him.

He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows and aquainted with grief: and we hid as it were [our] faces from Him: He was despised and we esteemed Him not.

Surely He has Borne our griefs, and Carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of G-d, and afflicted.

But He was Wounded for our transgressions, [He was] Bruised for our iniquities: the Chastisement of our Peace [was] upon Him; and with His Stripes, we are Healed.

All we like sheep have gone astray; and we have turned every one to his own way; and the L-RD has Laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed, and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth: He is brought as a Lamb to the slaughter, as a Sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth.

He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall Declare His Generation? for He was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of My people was He stricken.

And He made His grave with the rich in His death; because He had done no violence, neither [was any] deceit in His mouth.

Yet it pleased the L-RD to bruise Him; He has put [Him] to grief: when Thou shalt make His Soul an Offering for sin. He shall see His Seed, He shall prolong His days, and the Pleasure of the L-RD shall Prosper in His Hand.

He shall see the travail of His soul, [and] be Satisfied: by His Knowledge shall My Righteous Servant Purify many; for He shall Bear their iniquities.

Therefore will I Divide Him [a Portion] with the great, and He shall Divide the spoil with the strong; because He has Poured out His Soul unto death: He was numbered with the transgressors, and Bore the sin of many, and made Intercession for the transgressors." Isaiah 52:13-53:12.[2]

"For unto us a Child is born, and unto us a Son is Given; and the Government will be upon His Shoulder.

And His Name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty G-d, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of [His] Government and Peace [there will be] no end.

Upon the Throne of David and over His Kingdom. to Order and to Establish It with Judgment and Justice from that Time forward, even Forever.

The Zeal of the L-RD of Hosts will Perform This." Isaiah 9:6,7

"Therefore the L-RD Himself shall Give you a Sign. Behold the virgin[3] shall conceive and bear a Son and shall call His Name Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14

"Immanuel" means "G-d with us".

"Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of Salvation (YESHUA)." Isaiah 12:3

THE PSALMS OF DAVID, KING OF ISRAEL

Psalm 2

"Why do the heathen rage? and the people imagine a vain thing?

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the L-RD, and against His Annointed,[4] [saying]:

'Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.'

He that sits in the Heavens shall laugh: the L-RD shall have them in derision.

Then He shall Speak to them in His Wrath, and vex them in His sore displeasure.

Yet I have set My King upon My Holy Hill of Zion.

I Will Declare the Decree: the L-RD has Said unto Me, 'You are My Son, this Day have I Begotten Thee.

'Ask of Me, and I shall Give the heathen for Your Inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for Your possession.

You shall break them with a rod of iron: You shall dash them in pieces like a potters' vessel.'

Be Wise now therefore, O you kings: be instructed you judges of the earth.

Serve the L-RD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish from the Way, when His Wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they who put their Trust in Him."

THE RESURRECTION OF MESSIAH

"For Thou wilt not leave My soul in hell; neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption." Psalm 16:10

"Thou, which hast shewed Me great and sore troubles, shalt quicken Me again, and shalt bring Me up again from the depths of the earth." Psalms 71:20

FROM KING SOLOMON

"Who hath Ascended up into Heaven, or Descended? Who hath gathered the wind in His Fists? Who hath bound the waters in a garment? Who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is His Name, and what is His Son's Name, if thou canst tell?" Proverbs 30:4

MOISHE (MOSES) WROTE OF HIM

"I have waited for Thy Salvation (YESHUA), O L-RD." Genesis 49:18

FOOTNOTES

[1] Yeshua HaMoshiach (Jesus Christ) is referred to as "The Lion of the Tribe of Judah" in the New Testament. Also, there is a fondness for referring some of the Prophets as "minor prophets", such as the Prophet Amos. According to our Rulings, there is NO SUCH THING as a "minor prophet". As if any of G-ds Prophets could be called "minor"?

[2] The majority opinion of serious scholars world-wide in every generation agree that this passage is speaking directly of the Messiah of Israel spoken of in the Holy Scriptures given to the Jewish people by G-d, in this case, through the Prophet Isaiah.

The passage speaks of the Promised One Sent by G-d to Redeem man from all his sins, and to place man again in Right-standing before His Creator.

In the Middle Ages, the great Jewish scholar RASHI put forward the premise that this passage referred to Israel as a nation and not to a "personal Messiah". Other R"s such as Ibn Ezra and Kimchi, also agreed.

Many other R"s then and later, including RaMBaM (Maimonides) saw the inconsistencies in RASHIs' new proposal and would not abandon the original Messianic interpretations. Their objections were three:

1 They showed the consensus of ancient opinion.

2. They noted that the text is in the singular number and not the plural throughout.

3. The cited Isaiah 53:8. In Isaiah 53:8 it says "cut off from the land of the living". Are the Jewish people, G-d forbid, "cut off from the land of the living"? No! G-d promises that Israel will live forever.

'Only if these decrees [the sun to shine by day, the moon and stars to shine by night, etc.] vanish from my sight' declares the L-RD, 'will the descendants of Israel ever cease to be a nation before Me' Jeremiah 31:36 (MT)

if these ordinaves cease from before Me, saith the L-RD, then shall the family of Israel cease to be a nation before Me forever. (LXX)

R" Moshe Kohen Iben Crispen of Cordova who lived in the 14th Century, said of Israel as servant interpretation, it "distorts the passage from its natural meaning" and that Isaiah 53 "was Given of G-d as a description of the Messiah, whereby, when any should claim to be the Messiah, to judge by the resemblance or non-resemblance to it whether he were the Messiah or not."

Many today still cite RASHIs' view perhaps unaware that RaMBaM (Maimonides) as well as many others totally rejected it as having no validity!

THE MUSAF

(Additional) Service for Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement)

"Our righteous annointed is departed from us: horror hath seized us, and we have none to justify us. He hath borne the yoke of our iniquities, and our transgression, and is wounded because of our transgression. He beareth our sin upon his shoulder, that he may find pardon for our iniquities. We shall be healed by his wound, at the time that the Eternal will create him (the Messiah) as a new creature. O bring him up from the circle of the earth. Raise him up from Seir, to assemble us the second time on Mount Lebanon, by the hand of Yinnon."

Isaiah 53 itself is excluded from the regular synagogue readings.

[3]The Hebrew text has "almah" which can mean either "virgin" or "young woman". A "young woman" in Israel would have been a virgin.

The LXX makes it clear in this place. It has "parthenos" which is always translated "virgin".

[4] "His Annointed" or: in the Hebrew "Moshiach", means The Messiah. Also called "The Christ" in the Septuagint (LXX) Greek Old Testament translation about 250 B.C. The Septuagint was the Bible of the early Church, and direct quotations from it are found within the pages of the Greek New Testament.
