4. Elie Joseph ROCHELEAU. Born on 7 Aug 1849 in Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada. Elie Joseph died abt 1933 in West Sandwich, Ontario Canada. Buried in St. Joseph's Church, River Canard. Ontario. Occupation: Farmer.

Old Resident Dies


Elie Rocheleau, 84 years old and a lifelong resident of Sandwich West, died suddenly at his home on River Front Road, on Wednesday evening, April 20th. Heart trouble was blamed for his death. Mr. Rocheleau was born in Sandwich West and lived in the same district all his life. He farmed all his life -- until his retirement some years ago. His wife, nee Marie Morin, predeceased him 11 years ago. Mr. Rocheleau was in comparatively good health until Wednesday evening when he was stricken with a heart attack while at the dinner table. He died almost immediately. Surviving are four sons, Maurice at home; Frank and Dolphis of Sandwich West; and Joseph of Dearborn; four daughters, Mrs. A. Delaire of River Rouge; Mrs. Samuel Laframboice of Asterban, Saskatchewan; Mrs Archille Bergeron of LaSalle; Mrs. Alfred Bondy of Amherstburg, and Mrs. Telesphere Decaire of Sandwich East; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Cadarette of Amherstburn; and Mrs. Charles Cadarette of Detroit. Funeral services were held from the home, Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. to St. Joseph Church, River Canard at 9 o'clock. Burial took place in the church cemetary. Requiem mass was sung Saturday morning by Rev. Fr. L'Heureux. Mrs. Cecile Jolie sang "Miserememi" during the offertory, and as the cortege left the church Miss Yvonne Bezaire sang "Ava Maria" by Rosowig. Burial took place in the crypt beside the body of his wife. The pallbearers were six grandsons: Eugene and Albert Rocheleau, Leo and Edward Gignac, Norman and Harvey Bergeron.

On 23 Oct 1872 when Elie Joseph was 23, he married Marie Mathilde MORIN, daughter of Hubert MORIN & Mathilde REAUME, in St. John The Baptist Church, Amherstburg, Ontario. Born in 1851. Marie Mathilde died abt 1920 in Sandwich, Ontario.

They had the following children:

ii. Lilie. Born on 20 Jun 1875. Lilie died in Canada on 27 Nov 1955; she was 80.

Lilie married Arthur DELAIRE.

5. Marie Marcelline (Mary) ROCHELEAU. Born on 13 Jul 1856 in Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada. Marie Marcelline (Mary) died aft 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. Buried in Holy Redeemer Cemetary, Detroit Michigan.

On 9 May 1878 when Marie Marcelline (Mary) was 21, she married Charles D. CADARETTE, in River Canard, Ontario Canada.
