I've been overweight for the majority of my life....along the way I've developed alot of complications from the excess weight. Diabetes, high blood pressure, gout, thyroid problems to name a few. I finally had come to the point where I was simply sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time. I've tried all the diets, which worked temporarily but never had a long term effect. My last option was Weight Loss Surgery (WLS). I researched the notion for several years before finally coming to the conclusion that if I was ever going to get a handle on my weight that was the only way to go. So on August 14th, 2005 I began the long journey towards the surgery.
It is a process that takes at least 6 months until you are even ready for surgery. There are a battery of tests that you have to have, along with medical documentation with a nutrtionist for 6 months the you are trying to lose weight. There is the psychological evaluation, and blood tests, upper GI's , sleep apnea tests etc...After completing all the requirements and submitting to the insurance I at last had a surgery date! April 17th, 2006!
So, on that day I entered the hospital, quite nervous but at the same time anxious to get the surgery started! The surgery took longer than anticipated because of alot of scar tissue from a previous gall bladder surgery, but it all went well. The surgery itself was not as bad as I expected and I was home in 4 days! I will try to chronical my journey thus far and keep updates as I can on my progress. My highest weight when I started this process was 282#.

lbs! I can't believe it. So far no major problems only sick 3 times one was my fault (I just thought I HAD to have that piece of fried chicken no less....NO! NO! NO! Bad Gabriella, and I paid the price! thought I was gonna die! very sick, throwing up, cramps, sweating...horrible. will NOT do that again! Sticking with the plan!! Other two times i think I just ate a little too quickly. Only problem I'm having so far is that I'm not tolerating beef very well. I can eat Wendy's Chili, but nothing else beef! Strange I know, but...still learning what works and what doesn't.
Cleaned out my closet yesterday! got rid of some things too big already! what a great feeling that was. Goodwill, here I come! Things are looking up!
