Jenks Lineage

 

1.    Thomas Warren married (?).  Of Smith's Fort in Surrey Co., VA.  In 1652 he built the first brick house in VA, which stands on land given by the Indian Chief Powhatan to John Rolfe when he and Pocahontas were married in 1614.  Their son, Thomas Rolfe sold this land to Thomas Warren in 1643.

4.    Elizabeth Warren (3.Allen3, 2.Allen2, 1.Thomas1) born c. 1719, Surrey Co., VA, married 1739, in Surrey Co., VA, Benjamin Lanier, born c. 1711, Surrey Co., VA, (son of John Lanier and Elizabeth Bird) died bf. Dec 12, 1796, Mecklenburg, VA.  Elizabeth died c. 1775.  No records have been found to establish parentage, but family Bible of her son Nicholas gives strong, circumstantial evidence that her name was Warren: his first child was named after his wife's father (George Malone); his second child after his wife's mother (Sallie Bass - 1st wife of George Malone); his third child Elizabeth Warren (undoubtedly after his mother); and his fourth child Benjamin (after his father). Benjamin: DAR - gave money and supplies to aid the Revolution.

          5.     i    John Lanier born 1738, Brunswick Co., VA, married Sarah Nance, born c. 1741/2.  John died 1816/20, Franklin Co., NC.  Five children.  Names not given.

          6.     ii    Lucy Lanier born c. 1740, Brunswick Co., VA, married bf. 1772, Isham Malone.  Lucy died Mar 18, 1833, Mecklenburg Co., VA.

          7.     iii   Lemuel Lanier born c. 1743, Mecklenburg Co., VA, married Lucy Malone.  Lemuel died Feb. 1817, Rutherford Co., TN.

          8.     iv   Frederick Lanier born c. 1745, married Mary Nance.  Frederick died c. 1805.  LDS does not have this child Mary: Another genealogy has her name as Temperance Warren.

          9.     v    Benjamin Lanier born 1747, Brunswick Co., VA, married (1) (?) Kenan, married (2) Nov 27, 1771, in Brunswick Co., VA, Elizabeth Parker.  Benjamin died c. 1818, Screven Co., GA.  Appointed to purchase provisions for the Continental Army, and in 1783, was a member of the GA Assembly. Ref. DAR 104727.

          10.    vi   Jesse Lanier born c. 1749, Brunswick Co., VA, married Sarah Whaley.  Jesse died bf. 1796.  He went to Duplin Co., NC, was in the Revolution.  Was in Montgomery Co., NC in 1784, and was living in 1790 when his father made his will, but was not present at the estate sale in 1796.

          12.    viii  Robert Lanier born 1754, Brunswick Co., VA, married (1) in Brunswick Co., VA, Elizabeth Malone, born 1757, died 1827, married (2) Dec 18, 1828, in Granville, NC, Elizabeth Phillips, died bf. 1860.  Robert died bf. 1835, Granville Co., NC.

          13.    ix   Sarah Lanier born 1756, Brunswick Co., VA, married Drury Jones, born 1751, died 1817.  Sarah died 1839.

          14.    x    Nicholas Lanier born Jan 5, 1760, Brunswick Co., VA, married (1) Patsy Malone, born 1771, died 1795, married (2) Sarah Bugg, born 1763, died 1853.  Nicholas died Mar 8, 1839, Williamson Co., TN.

          15.    xi   Allen Lanier born c. 1763, Brunswick Co., VA, married Polly Davis.

11.   Elizabeth Lanier (4.Elizabeth4, 3.Allen3, 2.Allen2, 1.Thomas1) born c. 1751, Brunswick Co., VA, married Apr 17, 1771, in VA, Matthew Redding, born c. 1747, Mecklenburg Co., VA, died c. 1790, Mecklenburg Co., VA.  Elizabeth died c. 1776, Brunswick Co., VA.

                      Children:

          16.    i    Ezekial Redding born 1771, Mecklenburg Co., VA, married Apr 17, 1791, in Mecklenburg Co., VA, Rebecca Mason, born 1772, Mecklenburg, VA, (daughter of Thomas Mason and Jane (?)) died Nov 17, 1838, Dayton, MI, buried: Mt. Zion Cem. Dayton MI.  Ezekial died Oct 18, 1838, Dayton, MI, buried: Mt. Zion Cemetery, Dayton, MI.  Information from http://www.geocities.com/Paris/LeftBank/4917/ben.html seems to establish Ezekial as the father of the Preble Co. OH Reddings.  As a child he lived with his grandfather Benjamin Lanier, migrated in 1810 from VA to OH and settled in (later called) Lanier Twp.  In 1850 he and family moved to NW Michigan, near Indiana border. Mentioned in will of grandfather Benjamin Lanier Sep 14, 1790.

          17.    ii    Rebecca Delass Redding born 1773, VA, married Dec 19, 1798, in Brunswick Co., VA, Miles Fowler.  Mentioned in will of grandfather Benjamin Lanier dated Sep 14, 1790

          18.    iii   Jincy Redding born 1775, Brunswick Co., VA, married Oct 6, 1796, in VA, Jeremiah Adams.  Jincy died c. 1797.  Mentioned in will of Grandfather Benjamin Lanier Sep 14, 1790.
