Descendants of (?) (Steaven) Stevens

Stormont Lineage

1.      (?) (Steaven) Stevens born Chessington, Surrey, married Frances (?), died c. 1594.  Frances: Will, dated June 1594, was proved in the Archdeaconry of Surrey Aug. 26, 1595.  The three children are mentioned in the will.

                         Children:

        +  2.       i       Jearam Stevens.

            3.       ii     John (Steaven) Stevens. Named in his mother's will and in his brothers will dated Sep 3, 1602, then of Talworth, Surrey (parish of Long Ditton).  Will proved Sep 23, 1602.

            4.       iii       Elizabeth Stevens married John (Hoake) Hooke, born Talworth, England, died 1601.  Executor of brother John's estate, 1602. John: Will dated Nov 30, 1601.  A boy named John Hooke was one of the 6 children who came on the Mayflower as "servants", which is the same as apprentices. Bradford says of him "Mr. Allerton his wife dyed with the first, and his servant John Hooke"  This was during the deaths of 1621.

Second Generation

            6.       ii     Alice Stevens born c. 1613.  Possible child. She also came on the Abigail at age 22, who might have married a cousin named Stevens. However, Savage says "Stevens, Henry, Boston, stonemason..came on the "Defence" 1635 from London, aged 24."  The Defence was a sister-ship of the Abigail.

            7.       iii       Thomas Stevens born c. 1623.  age 12 on the Abigail.  Possible son, but could be another child.  Savage says Thomas "was perhaps son of Thomas of London, the armorer".  This also might be the Thomas Stevens who went to Long Island with the Fosters.
