Witnesses John Stormont's will on Jul 21, but died prior to John's death in 1796. 1790 census listed "Wm Sprowl 2 males 16 and over, 1 male under 16, 1 female". In 1820 census, 2 Sprowl families: Jenett Sprowle ( 1 m 26-45, 1 m over 45, 1 fem over 45) and the brother of Jane (John) (3 males under 10, 1 male 26-45, 1 female under 10, 1 female 26-45). We are using "Sproull" as name throughout, since there is a wide variation of spellings in the same family.

John died 1844, Gibson Co., IN. descendants of this family primarily moved west, through Preble Co. OH. These assumptions are based on correspondence with Anne Renshaw ([email protected]). A Gibson Co., biography of him states there were nine children, six daughters and three sons. 1820 census lists 3 males and 1 female under 10 (b. after 1810). A John Sproll arrived in the Rev. Martin fleet on the PA Farmer, and was awarded 100 acres, meaning no dependants. Rosannah: Dates may be in error: Anne Renshaw found Gibson , IN cemetery records showing Rosanna, daughter of John and Rosanna d. Jul 23, 1836 age 27. Elizabeth: From letter of Margaret J. McClellan. John Sprowl's 2nd wife lived with them. Letter states that she might be McClure or Richmon. She also raised 3 stepsons and 3 stepdaughters.

A William Sproull came to America on the Henry & Francis (along with a William McMillan) in 1685 to Eastern New Jersey. A number of Sproule, Sprowl, etc. are in Preble Co OH records- Elizabeth, Mary, William, Sarah, John, Ann, Rossanna, and Betsy in 1808-1840 marriage records. Spelling of Sprowl from Hogue book

Stormont and Mary Ann Clark are different. Haven't been able to place David m. Mary A. Stormont, who LDS says was daughter of William/Sarah Stormont.
