He was born in DE, where he grew to manhood, had two children before moving to GA. From there in 1807 he came to IN, settling near where Princeton was later located, where he resided until 1811. He moved to southern part of the county, and two years later went to IL to visit a son, where he died in 1859. Lavinia: Another genealogy says death place is Posey Co., IL

Thru various routes (Burton name, name of child, generation deductions and exclusions, we have placed her father and mother as this set. See Marvel family Preface for reasoning. The 1850 Census places her as running a Boarding House (Philadelphia Spring Garden Ward 1). Strangely, there is a Nathaniel Marvel (16) born DE and a Charlotte Prettyman (18) b. DE with her. Amelia Ann (a daughter) is found in Marvel genealogy, having married a Marvel (William) c. 1851. Mahlon: This Mahlon apparently was at war ( War w/Tripoli)when father sold blacksmith shop in Port Elizabeth. 1880 census shows J.B.Foster's Father b. DE. They apparently moved to Philadelphia so as to be in 1820 Pennsylvania Census. Listed as enlisting May 7, 1802, age 22. after serving on Frigate "President" (Jan 19, 1804), gunboat #4 in Tunis Bay (Aug 1, 1805) was discharged May 7, 1807.
