Robinson's History of Greene Co., OH also gives this father, as being among those who fled from Scotland at the time of religious persecution. This Hugh was connected with John McMillan, who organized the Peoples Society. He moved to Co. Antrim before Hugh was born.

Soc. Bulletin says both Hugh and Brother Daniel came to Chester Dist. after 1785.Robinson's History of Greene Co., OH says left Ireland for America in 1797 with Rev. John Kell, William Rock and one or 2 others, landed at Charleston. They made their way to Camden, Kershaw Dist. where they remained for some months. Learning of the Rocky Creek settlement, went there and sent for families whom they met at Charleston.

Henderson Cemetery. Listed as SAR Patriot serving as soldier in SC and granted pension. SAR Ref. File #11295 A.GED. Extensive lineage in SAR file. Also listed in SAR Ref. File #14252 M.GED, which lists him as Pvt. Possibly the Daniel M'Mullen arriving on Rev. Martin fleet, ship Hopewell, and awarded 100 acres, meaning he had no dependants. Might account for his being in a different location than brother Alexander, since land wasn't awarded by family groups, and he apparently got his in Kershaw District.
