Descendants of George Lumley

 

Stormont Lineage

 

Anne Creswell, who married John McKain, is possibly a descendant of Robert Cresswell who married Elizabeth Lumley.  However, the intervening generations have not been found, so there are generation gaps present between the Lumleys and Ann Cresswell.

 

1.      George Lumley born c. 1444, Newton, Yorkshire, England, married Elizabeth Thornton, born Newcastle, England, (daughter of Roger Thornton and Elizabeth Greystoke). George died Nov 13, 1507.

                         Children:

        +  2.       i       Sir Thomas Lumley born c. 1460.

 

Second Generation

 

2.      Sir Thomas Lumley (1.George1) born c. 1460, Lumley, Durham, England, married c. 1508, in Yorkshire, England, Elizabeth Plantagenet, (daughter of Edward IV and Lady Elizabeth Lucy). Sir died 1487.

                         Children:

            3.       i       Richard Lumley born c. 1478, Ludworth Tower, Lumley, England, died May 26, 1510.

            4.       ii     John Lumley born c. 1479, Lumley, Durham, England, died af 1483.

            5.       iii       Ann Lumley born c. 1481, Lumley, Durham, England, married Robert Ogle.

            6.       iv       George Lumley born c. 1483, Lumley, Durham, England.

            7.       v       Sibill Lumley born c. 1485, Lumley, Durham, England, married in Yorkshire, England, William Hilton, born 1512, Yorkshire, England.

            8.       vi       Roger Lumley born c. 1487, Lumley, Durham, England, died af 1530.

        +  9.       vii       Elizabeth Lumley born 1488.

 

Third Generation

 

9.      Elizabeth Lumley (2.Sir2, 1.George1) born 1488, Lumley, Durham, England, married Robert Cresswell Creswell, (son of Percival Cresswell Creswell and Cassandra Hassell). Robert: First record of the family was Thomas de Cresswell, 1190, Staffordshire, England.  Name means "Dweller by the water cress stream." Although many generations separate him from Ann Creswell (birth dates), we are including here so that in between generations can be tracked.

                         Children:

        +  10.      i       Oswin (Oswald) Cresswell Creswell.

        +  11.      ii     Anne Creswell born c. 1818-1820.

 

Fourth Generation

 

10.    Oswin (Oswald) Cresswell Creswell (9.Elizabeth3, 2.Sir2, 1.George1) married (1) (?), married (2) Janet Errington, married (3) Dorothy Hedworth, born Harraton, (daughter of Sir Ralph Hedworth and Dorothy Gascoigne). (?): No Children

                         Children by Janet Errington:

            12.      i       Margery Cresswell Creswell married (?) Newton.

                             Children by Dorothy Hedworth:

            13.      ii     (?) Dau. Cresswell Creswell.

            14.       iii       (?) Dau Cresswell Creswell.

            15.      iv       John Cresswell Creswell married (1) Elizabeth (?), married (2) Luke Errington.  John died Oct 29, 1598.

            16.      v       Cuthbert Cresswell Creswell married Margaret (?).  Superintendent of Mines for Queen Elizabeth. Margaret: Had 6 children including one son in 1609.

            17.      vi       Robert Cresswell Creswell born Ellington.  Deputy Receiver to Queen Elizabeth.  Will dated 1610.

 

11.    Anne Creswell (9.Elizabeth3, 2.Sir2, 1.George1) born c. 1818-1820, England, married John (McCain) McKain.  Went to school with Queen Victoria, b. 1819 - ascended to throne in 1837 (at age 18) married Albert 1840 (when she was 21). John: He is listed on wedding certificate of Henry McConnell and Ann Creswell McKain as "James McKain"

                         Children:

            18.      i       Anne Creswell (McCain) McKain born 1839/41, Ireland/Scotland, married Dec 16, 1863, in Laughboyne co. Donegal, Ireland, Henry McConnell, born 1843/4, Londonderry, Northern Ireland, (son of Scott McConnell and (?)) died June 29, 1912, New Castle, DE.  Anne died Feb 1, 1914, Wilmington DE.  Also spelled McKane on marriage certificate of Joseph Buck Foster and Charlotte M. McConnell. Henry: Married in Parish Church, Laughboyne, Co. Donegal, Ireland by James A. Parke, Curate of Laughboyne Parish Church.
