He is found in Wethersfield Ct records 1666-1667. The New London Keeneys apparently are not related, although other Wethersfield Keeneys probably are. Alice: Others call her Agnes (?). Last name could have been Gates, or she might have been previously married. Another genealogy indicates she was the widow of William Colfax.

Thomas died Jan 10, 1840, Chemung, NY, buried: Riverside Cemetery, Tioga, NY. Thomas established the first ferry in the Lacyville, PA area in 1788. It remained in the family, passing to his son-in-law, Richard, son of Mark Keeney. Keeney's Ferry, as it was always called, served the stone quarry operators on the south side of the Susquehanna River, with stone then being loaded on wagons, then on to flat cars, being shipped to distant cities. The Ferry continued in use until the early 1930's. He moved to Wyoming Co in Apr 1781. First settler in Braintrim Co. in 1786. In Fabius NY by 1832. Mercy: One genealogy says she was a French woman with black eyes, black curly hair and a fair complexion. The family lived for a while at Keeney Settlement, Onondaga Co., NY, just south of Fabius, NY. There is a house built by Thomas in 1810 on West Keeney Road, south of Fabius.
