There may have been one other daughter, who married a Manning (in England) through whom (female lineages) many other New England families are descended (Whitefield, Higginson, Lee through one lineage, and Waters, Proctor, Felton, Porter, Putnam, Shillaber, Poole, Benson and Whittredge through another lineage).

Common Ancestors

Since the Brandon line has not been traced further back than William, further ancestral lines will be for his wife, Elizabeth Wingfield.  The format for the following ancestral lineage is known as an Ahnentafel Book format, which displays each preceding generation in a numerical fashion, thus making a more easily understood display of ancestors.

You might have noted previously that, in displaying descendants, you cannot go back up a line through the other parent, without having a “collateral” line for that other parent.  However, through the Ahnentafel Book system, all ancestors can be displayed through any line (although you can’t show brothers and sisters.

You may easily follow the book below by understanding that the starting person is #1.

That person’s father is #2 (and all male members beyond are even numbers).

That person’s mother is #3 (and all female members beyond are odd numbers.

So, that starting person’s grandparents are #4 (male) and #5 (female) on the person’s father’s side, and the starting person’s grandparents on the mother’s side are #6 (male) and #7 (female).

(Keep a pencil and paper handy to calculate doubling of any number to find the person’s parent – Fathers are even numbers and mothers are the next number (odd))!
