One of the Quiney brothers married Judith, William Shakespeare's daughter. He is often confused with his nephew, of Westover. Hannah: She was the half-sister of Grace Stegge. She married four times. This might be why one genealogy calls her Hannah Jennings.

William died Dec 4, 1704, Westover, Charles City, VA, buried: Westover Church, Charles City, VA. He was left lands in VA by his uncle, Thomas Stegge, on the condition that he go there. He made journey almost immediately (1670) at age of 17.in 1676 he backed Nathaniel Bacon during rebellion against Gov. Berkeley; in so doing became a member of House of Burgesses and promoted to the Council in 1683. He turned his inheritance into a fortune by sending pack trains into the Western Territories to exchange goods with the Indians. Mary: She was reportedly related to all the royal families of Europe through her grandmother, Ursula St. Leger.

26. iii Ursula (Byrd) Bird born Nov 20, 1681, Westover, Charles City Co., VA, married 1698, in Williamsburg, VA, Robert Beverley, died aft. 1704. Ursula died Oct 31, 1698, VA, buried: Nov 1698, Jamestown Church, Jamestown, VA. She, as her siblings, was sent to England for her education. She married shortly before her 15th birthday, and died one year later giving birth to her only child, William.

High circumstantial evidence exists (no other Thomas Bird in Charles City Co., VA at the time, Estimated marriage date of parents would coincide with her birth (c. 1680).

Benjamin died bf. Dec 12, 1796, Mecklenburg, VA. DAR - gave money and supplies to aid the Revolution. Elizabeth: No records have been found to establish parentage, but family Bible of her son Nicholas gives strong, circumstantial evidence that her name was Warren: his first child was named after his wife's father (George Malone); his second child after his wife's mother (Sallie Bass - 1st wife of George Malone); his third child Elizabeth Warren (undoubtedly after his mother); and his fourth child Benjamin (after his father).

42. v Benjamin Lanier born 1747, Brunswick Co., VA, married (1) (?) Kenan, married (2) Nov 27, 1771, in Brunswick Co., VA, Elizabeth Parker. Benjamin died c. 1818, Screven Co., GA. Appointed to purchase provisions for the Continental Army, and in 1783, was a member of the GA Assembly. Ref. DAR 104727.
43. vi Jesse Lanier born c. 1749, Brunswick Co., VA, married Sarah Whaley. Jesse died bf. 1796. He went to Duplin Co., NC, was in the Revolution. Was in Montgomery Co., NC in 1784, and was living in 1790 when his father made his will, but was not present at the estate sale in 1796.
