PA, buried: Lacy Street Cemetery, Lacyville, PA. Abigail died Jul 7, 1804, Laceyville, Braintrim Twp, PA, buried: Lacyville, PA Cemetery. Some genealogies list her as Abigail B. Lee. So there might be a question as whether she was previously married to a (?) Lee. This is probably impossible since she married Mark Keeney at age 20. Richard died Jul 6, 1835, Laceyville, Wyoming Co. PA, buried: Lacyville Cemetery. SAR File Ref #7860IJK.GED. Richard started the ferry service at Keeney's Landing. His marriage to Mercy was the first marriage performed in Lacyville, PA, initially known as Keeney's Landing. One genealogy says he was born in Dutchess Co., NY. Another genealogy says his d. date is Jul 11, 1831 Mercy: SAR notes that she was Mrs., so perhaps widow of (?) Keeney, however parentage is determined.

Chester died Mar 15, 1838, Laceyville Braintrim Twp. Wyoming Co. PA. His birth was the first recorded in Lacyville PA., initially known as Keeney's Landing. Note, one genealogy lists the children of Richard and Mercy Keeney as children of Chester and Abigail Crawford, however, the children's ages in that genealogy clearly show that they are Richard’s and not Cheste’rs. This genealogy has filled in information from those children in this. 1830 Census: FWM: 1 under 5;1 10-15; 1 30-40(Chester); FWF 1 5-10; 2 10-15; 1 15-20; 1 30-40 (Abigail) Abigail: One genealogy says possible children or grandchildren of the family are: Matilda Margaret Keeney b. Dec 6, 1822 d. Sep 20, 1897; Lewis C. Keeney b. c. 1827; Fanny Keeney b. 1830.

17. iii Ira Keeney born Oct 4, 1793, Keeney's Ferry, Luzerne, PA, married Betsy Ann Crawford, born 1796, (daughter of Benjamin Crawford and Olive Carpenter) died 1868. Ira died Nov 6, 1877, Laceyville, PA. Ira's son, William, moved to Lanark, IL, then onward to Pawnee Rock, KS, and is the ancestor of Keeneys there. 1803 census shows FWM: 1 5-10; 2 10-15; 1 30-40 (Ira); FWF: 1 30-40 (Betsy Ann).
18. iv Lyman Keeney born Nov 7, 1795, Keeney's Ferry, Luzerne, PA, married Rebecca Northrop, (daughter of Amos Northrop and (?) Pratt). Lyman died Oct 11, 1878, Laceyville, PA. 1830 census shows FWM 1 under 5; 1 5-10; 1 30-40 (Lyman); FWF 1 5-10; 1 20-30 (wife). Rebecca: Another genealogy lists her as Margaret (?). Laceyville records prob. more accurate, since he came from there. Another genealogy says m. 1 Polly (?) d. 1810; m. 2 Margaret (?) d. 1840.

Charles died Aug 19, 1899, Minnewaska, Pope Co., MN. One genealogy follows this line, so fairly certain, although they have only one wife - Rebecca Sterling, b. c. 1817, d. May 3, 1897. Source Pope Co. Historical Society. However, another genealogy says he d. Oct 7, 1813 at Keeney's Ferry, at less than 1 year of age.

Joshua died Apr 5, 1837, Laceyville, Braintrim, Wyoming, PA. Joshua organized a Methodist class in his home at Black Walnut in 1812, which was the precursor of formalized Methodism in Lacyville, PA., initially known as Keeney's Landing. Preaching services were held for several years, with the class becoming part of the Bridgewater Circuit established in 1813. Came to Braintrim Twp in 1787, returned to CT in 1789 to marry

Jeremiah moved to New York, apparently with a group of 28 Keeneys (from Wyoming Co, PA - a place sometimes called Keeney's Landing on the Susquehanna River). George died July 10, 1855. It appears that this line, from George on, changed the name to Keeny. Eliza: Speedsville Cemetery records show name as Elizabeth.

Another genealogy has her buried at Fowler's Mills Cemetery, Geauga, OH, but Speedsville Cemetery records substantiate her being buried there. That genealogy also has her married to Robert Stephenson, b. 1839/40 in NY.

Margaret: For children see Keeney File (also on WFT8). Children were born in Berkshire Tioga Co. NY and most went west to Ceauga Co. OH with family. Many children began to spell name Keeny.
