Theodore Gehling

Theodore was born on 10 November 1892 at the family home in Carroll County, Iowa. He was baptized at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in the nearby town of Carroll, and also went to school there. He married Catherine Hoffman on 6 September 1921. Theodore was known to be a good farmer and an extemely hard worker. Catherine, familiarly known as Kate, was an accomplished piano player. Together they had ten children:

1- Marie Gehling (married Rod Von Eschen)

2- Anna Gehling (married Herman Rath; together they had three children: Mary Ann, James, Robert)

3- Lucille Gehling (married James Jackly; together they had one child: June Marie)

4- Frank Gehling (married Norma Jean Schulte; together they had six children: Gerald, Sharon, Dennis, Jeanine, Mark, Marcia)

5- John Gehling (married Marjorie May Dahlhoff; together they had five children; Patrick, Margaret, Timothy, Philip, Pamela)

6- Vincent Gehling (married Donna Elizabeth Daniel; together they had four children: Sandra, Bruce, Brian, Brent)

7- Helen Gehling (married Charles Gray; together they had three children: Marilyn, Michael, Patty)

8- Leonard Gehling (married Irma Meier; together they had three children: Diane, Duane, Doreen)

9- Frieda Gehling (married Billie Barron; together they had four children: Catherine, Elizabeth, Deborah, Thomas)

10- Leo Gehling (died at four years of age)
