Gladys Mary Reinart
Gladys was born on 12 November 1905 at Halbur, Iowa. Before her marriage Gladys worked at the grocery store in Halbur. She married Adolph Langel on 18 September 1928. They lived for many years on a farm near Templeton, Iowa. In November of 1940 Gladys entered St. Anthony's Hospial in nearby Carroll to undergo surgery for what she thought was appendicitis. During the operation she was found to have cancer of the internal organs. She died a month later and was buried on 22 December, 1940, just three days before Christmas. She had purchased all the children's Christmas presents before entering the hospital. She left behind four children:
1- Irene Marian Langel (31 January 1930) - Married Louis Eischeid on 3 June 1953. Together they had eight children: Joyce, Scott, Alan, Steven, Cheryl, Sue Anne, Mary Kay, Jeanie Marie.
2- Vernon Peter Langel (15 November 1931) - Married Frances Broich on 28 April 1956. Together they had four childen: Kevin, Barbara, Jerrene, Brian.
3- Merle Joseph Langel (6 April 1934 - 21 April 1967) - Married Theresa Ann Veit. Together they had two children: David and Keith.
4- Dennis Leo Langel (5 March 1938) - Married Janice Irlmeier. Together they had three children: Kimberly, Lori, Lynne.
