Homage to Philadelphia 8/20/07
This one combines two images I'd been carrying around since my childhood. The crowns in the street I stole from my friend Gary Abrams, who said it first. The sewer gargling down rain water I used when the 6th grade nun asked us for an example of personification. Sister Paul Gregory liked it so much, I heard from students who had her the next two years that she was still using the sewer image.
My point here is that although I didn't like Philly 98% of the time, it could be beautiful in its own way, especially with a good cleaning.
