Recently aquired a Pacifica Parrotlett and am looking for any info that I can find on him. He is also known as a "pocket parrott." Unfortunately, they are not readily available in most pet stores and the few books that I have found on parrotts have no mo e than 1 or 2 paragraphs on this little guy. I understand he has a life expectancy of 20-25 years, does not get any bigger than 3-4 inches tall, loves to cuddle and is on the quiet side, even at his loudest. I have sucessfully raised a crested barbet that fell out of the nest a few hours after birth. I have sucessfully hatched 5 guinea fowl, a tractor was going to plow the farmers fields, the eggs were in the way. He gave them to me, I sucessfully hatched the and they have since flown off to go and live a good life. So I am a granny to some birds out there. I have nursed many doves back to health, etc etc. But now I have been given a baby Indian Mynah bird that has fallen out of the nest. Our bird, Caesar, who we got as a baby four years ago has brought such joy to both of our lives. He is good with both myself and my husband Tom. I started with a cockatiel named Sydney he was my buddy every morning he would hear me and he would say mornin' momma, he mimicked my children, and my sons' father bought him a ferret and that was that. At that time my son had a grey cheek parakeet named etrie and she took up with me she was potty trained when it came to me the children she messed on. She was a little larger than a love bird and didn't talk like Sydney but I knew her so well that her different tones she could tell me if it was time for he to do her duty or whatever else she needed I miss her companionship. She loved to go with me in the car and shopping and she would sleep with me toward the end of her life. When I first got her she was in bad shape her nails were so bad that they cripple her toes and she slept hanging from the side of her cage, she couldn't sit on the perch it was so sad but the lady that I bought her from had so many birds she was like a slum aviary it was bad but when I seen her I feel in love with her. She took to my on at first but after Sydney was killed she was in the cage next to him, she didn't want nothing to do with my son and became mine. I don't know what happened that day but my children were at school and I was at work. I live in Washington state an I was blessed with Petrie and after I took her to a doctor for her feet I worked with the the way he showed me and she was able to perch herself and we had her for about 5 years and I would like to have another one or a different kind that could be a fam ly pet not just a one person pet. could you write me back about another kind or someone closer that could help. We have quite a few African Greys and Blue Fonted Amazons. I have just hand raised my first baby Grey chick. It will be ready to leave home in about two weeks.
