Thomas Prewitt, Sr. was born ca. 1693 in Henrico Co., Va. and died ca. 1759 in Halifax Co., Va. He married ca. 1719 to Mary Chastain Durcray born ca. 1680 died bef. 1752. Mary was the daughter of Peter Chastain and the widow of Nicholas Durcray, Sr. Nicholas and Mary transported to America on the ship 'The Nassau' in 1699. They had two sons, Nicholas, Jr. and Jean. Thomas and Mary settled futher up the James River from his father's land at Almond Creek, in Goochland Co., which was formed from Henrico Co. In 1837, Thomas brough land on Stock's Creek, Amelia Co., Va. and lived there until his move to southern Va. on Catawba Creek in Lunenburg Co., Va. which later became Halifax Co.
