My information is from family and old census. I have not been able to trace this family past the 1850 census. I did find a website connecting John Gentry but his mother's name was different than what I have.
John Newton Gentry was born March 10, 1823 in South Carolina died April 16, 1898 in Pontotoc Co., Ms. He and his wife, Nancy Jane Screws born August 04, 1845 and died June 03, 1916, were living in the home of his mother, Elizabeth Gentry born 1804 in South Carolina, in 1860. Polly Ann Gentry, age 27, and children were living next door to John and Nancy. She is thought to be John's sister-in-law.
